This is Franklin.

He’s the sweetest most gentle big boy you will ever meet. Franklin is 5 years old and has spent his whole life at the Sanctuary.

Franklin prefers a calm and relaxed vibe. If you zero in on him and approach with too much energy he will easily get overwhelmed and relocate.

But when everything is calm, Franklin will seek out your love. He may even reward you with belly rubs and kisses. For this reason, he is a favorite of volunteers.

Franklin can often be found in the center of the adoption floor napping on whatever surface is handy. He is very sensitive to what is going on in the room, and if there is a lot of commotion, he will go into the corners to be left alone. But if you make an appointment to come in at a time, that’s not so busy, you will encounter a more relaxed and happier Franklin.

Franklin is a sensitive guy. He has a few big No’s on his list. First and foremost, he does not like being picked up. When you are as large as Franklin, you’ve likely been bobbled and dropped a few times by inexperienced hands after 5 years in a Sanctuary. He prefers to be in control of where he goes and when.

It’s a good thing that Franklin is a very healthy boy. Because he hates veterinary care. You may want to warn your vet that this normally sweet docile boy has the ability to turn into a honey badger when threatened with shots or pills. The sweet calm, gentle boy will use every ounce of his substantial being to fight you during these treatments. Your vet should have some recommendations and medication they can give to help calm him for these interactions. Afterwards, he turns back into the sweet, loving teddy bear that we all know him for. Aside from his annual boosters, he should be fine.

Franklin holds a very special place in our hearts. He was one of the first residence to the Sanctuary back in its very early days in 2018. He is one of the sweetest animals that you will ever meet in your entire life. He deserves the best home where he can live in ease.

Franklin gets along great with other cats. He has not had much exposure to dogs. But he would do best with gentle, calmer creatures. Because Franklin is a bit sensitive to the energy and activity around him, he would do best in a home without small children.

It’s been a minute since we weighed our big boy, but he hovers in around the 15lb range.
