Janice came to the sanctuary with a badly infected injured front leg. The end of her paw had been ripped off, likely by An engine. By the time she came to the sanctuary, her paw was severely infected and septic. Luckily, our vet was on site when Janice first arrived. She immediately took her to her clinic and performed an emergency amputation to save her life.
Janice recovered remarkably from the surgery. She was a little shy at first and often had underneath beds and furniture. But she is slowly becoming comfortable with people and is incredibly comfortable with other cats.
Janice has had a lot happened to her in the past few months and has weathered the storm nicely She will need to calm her household that will move at her speed. She’s still adapting to life on three legs. But she gets along very well. We expect she’ll be jumping up on things in no time. And then she prefers to stay close to the ground where she feels most comfortable. She is a little weary about being picked up, after all that she’s gone through. But once you have earned her trust, she’s more than happy to snuggle up next to you.
