Criteria to surrender your animal to Our Farm Sanctuary.

We understand that sometimes despite best efforts it is necessary to surrender your animal. In this case, we feel the best solution is for Our Farm Sanctuary to take the animal and find them a new, loving home.

Based on urgency and foster home space availability, Our Farm Sanctuary does take in animals surrendered by their owners. Please understand that because we have very limited resources, it's necessary for us to prioritize the animals we take into rescue. Shelter animals in danger of being euthanized are given first and top priority. Next are animals in need of immediate health care that their owners cannot provide. Then, owner surrenders are considered. Please be patient with us and we will do our best to work with you to ensure the safety and well-being of your animal.

Surrendering your pet to Our Farm Sanctuary is a permanent decision.

Our Farm Sanctuary knows that surrendering your animal is a very difficult decision, but sometimes - it is the only one to make. If you choose to surrender your animal, you'll be asked to complete a surrender contract. Your signature on this contract represents a permanent decision on your part. This legally binding contract gives full ownership of the animal to Our Farm Sanctuary. This allows us to provide veterinary care and down the road, legally adopt out the animal to a carefully pre-screened 'forever' home. Please note: We consider adoptions through our organization to be closed, meaning that we do not reveal the identities of either the surrendering or adopting parties. This ensures your privacy, as well as the privacy of the adopter, will be protected.

MONMOUTH ADOPTION PROCESS

OUR PROCESS

Apply

We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

Home Visit

Once your application review is complete, a Our Farm Sanctuary volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit to meet in person and discuss all-things pet. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the animal that the adopter may not have considered. All household members must be present during the home visit. This includes all pets.

Finding Your Pet

Once approved to adopt, the search for your animal begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing animals in our care that you are specifically interested in.

Why Foster?

The only way that we can save animals is with the help of foster homes. Being a foster family has rewards beyond the essential value of helping a pet in need find a new home. For some, it is a chance to have an animal companion without making a lifetime commitment, or to try new companions for an existing pet. Foster Care is critical to our rescue efforts, the more homes we have, the more animals we can save. Becoming a foster family is a very rewarding experience, and can be a lot of fun. There are often tears shed when a foster finally finds a home of their own, but knowing you have saved a life and opened up space to save another is truly rewarding.
