The world does not deserve such a pure-hearted cat as Shane.
This boy has had the odds stacked against him since the start.
Shane came to the Sanctuary in August 2020 with his large family totaling 12. He was about 3 months old at the time.
The absolute worst thing happened. The entire family had pan Leuk, an incredibly contagious and deadly virus. They were immediately isolated, and we began treatment. By the end of it, only Shane, his sister September, Mama Sabrina, and Papa Samuel survived. In just a few weeks, this family was devastated to 1/3 of what it had been.
But the story gets worse. Shane, September & Sabrina were then diagnosed with FIP, a non-contagious infection caused by a gene mutation. FIP is not contagious but is genetic. We have noticed it tends to run in families. By a miracle, all 3 survived through treatment.
Shane lives on our main adoption floor. He is often topping the food bin or amidst a cuddle pile atop and acclimation apartment. He eagerly awaits the love and attention of people.
Once you initiate giving him scratches and love, he will melt your heart in the sweetest way. Shane will lock on to you with his love seeking radar. You will continually look down and find that Shane has once again inserted himself in the position of the cat you should pet. If you ignore him for too long, he may begin to nibble on your fingers, so you remember that he’s still there. It’s an odd sensation given that Shane has no teeth
Shane missed a good portion of his kittenhood being sick. Born outside, survived pan Leuk, survived FIP.
Shane is now 3.5 years old with a lifetime behind him. He lives every day to its fullest. He plays with heart and enthusiasm that will bring a smile to your face.
He has a sweet precociousness about him that makes you absolutely want to love this boy forever. Shane can often be found in the company of his friend Sunshine.
We would love to see this special boy finally get his happy ending.
We would also love for the right people to fall in love with sweet, shy September.
Apply soon they’ve been waiting their whole lives.
